What is the International Baccalaureate?
The International Baccalaureate, also known as the IB program, is a program offered here at IA during the last two years of your high school experience. It challenges students to their fullest capabilities and is centered around inquiry-based learning to teach students concepts and connect it to the real world.
The System/ Program
The IB program at IA consists of the MYP(Middle Years Program) and DP(Diploma Program). Essentially all the times where you wonder how the things your learning apply to the real world is what the IB does, it teaches the skills that will help you later on. The inquiry based learning that is involved makes sure the student is involved in his/her learning and have it be an interactive education being hands-on and minds-on. The students take control of their learning.
Advantages
Every child is different, and when it comes to learning there are several ways to learn. This system caters to each individuals learning ways and has the ability to help your child learn to the best way possible. This program is not traditional and has a different layout to encourage more activities and understanding of the curriculum.
The IB Diploma
The IB Diploma is the ultimate goal for each student attending this school. This diploma is known universally for the rigorous assessments called the IB Exams. These exams are taken during senior year in which it covers all 4 years of material you have learned in your subjects. The diploma guarantees a very good chance and access to the top universities and colleges and some colleges offer scholarships for having the IB Diploma!
Transferring/ Entering the Program
If you are planning to transfer to this great experience, you are well catered for with the difference in curriculum. As this is a hard school and education, many worry that it will be too advanced or that they will have to catch up a lot. The IB guarantees that you will succeed if you enter or transfer!
